In its concern to be rooted in the musical landscape of Picardy Wallonia, the André Dumortier International Competition with the support of the club “Richelieu-Tournai”, the club “Richelieu-Escaut” and the “Richelieu International-Europe”, invited 11 young pianists (12-19 years old) attending the music academies of Wallonie picarde to perform in front of television cameras.
As in 2016 and 2018, the CIAD Artistic Committee asked the composer of the compulsory work for the 2025 Competition, Jean-Luc Fafchamps, to create a short piece for our young pianists.
They will have the opportunity to perform it publicly and out of competition in front of the jury of the Competition at the opening of the semi-finals on Wednesday, October 21, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
They were able to meet Jean-Luc Fafchamps at the Conservatory of Tournai. He shared with them the spirit of his composition and introduced them to his interpretation. Beautiful moment of sharing.
On October 23, in partnership with the club “Richelieu” and the Maison de la Culture of Tournai, Jean-Luc Fafchamps and Jean-Michel Dayez, both members of the jury, will accompany them for a day of Masterclass where they can share their experience and passion for piano.
