Host families and volunteers

One of the unique features of this Competition is the accommodation offered to young artists. The Welcome Committee is strongly committed to bringing the Competition to life beyond the concert halls. For each young artist—coming from all over the world—the Welcome Committee reaches out to residents of Tournai and surrounding municipalities, including Ath, Beloeil, Frasnes, Silly, Péruwelz, and Leuze, inviting their generosity in hosting and accommodating candidates (aged up to 25 years).

This initiative offers a genuine opportunity for interaction between the artists and families eager to actively participate in the André Dumortier International Competition. Often, the bonds formed during this experience are so meaningful and strong that they last long after the competition.

For the 2025 edition, the Welcome Committee is seeking families to host young artists. Ideally, these families should have a piano. Those who take the opportunity to host a candidate will receive benefits, including free entry to all performances (finals included), invitations to certain receptions and events, and more. If hosting a candidate is not feasible but you have a piano, you can make it available for candidates to rehearse at your home.

The Welcome Committee is responsible for:

– Organizing and finding the means to fund the candidates’ accommodation during the Competition period.

– Providing assistance for all practical questions.

– Promoting and fostering connections between the André Dumortier International Competition and its laureates.

– Coordinating the support and activity of several volunteers to organize the candidates’ stay.
