Rules and Regulations

The André Dumortier International Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities, born after October 19, 1999.

Winners from previous editions are not allowed to participate again.

Registration procedure

Complete the 2025 online registration form, including: 

– A copy of your ID card or passport 

– A detailed CV 

– A recent passport-sized photograph 

– A motivation letter in French or English 

– A copy of the proof of payment of the registration fee 

Submission via YouTube link(s) of a preliminary round VIDEO recording. The program should be a maximum of 20 minutes, including: 

  1.   1 étude 
  2.   1st movement of a classical sonata 
  3.   1 free-choice piece 

The videos uploaded for the pre-selection must have been recorded within 12 months prior to the registration deadline. 

They must be unedited. The camera angle should be fixed. 

The works presented on VIDEO during the pre-selection program may appear in the competition program. 

To send an application,  all the boxes must be filed in on the “Application form”. However, the You Tube link to the pre-selection VIDEO recording can be sent at a later date. In this case, it must be sent no later than  June 30, 2025 using the “Contact Form” on the website.

The registration will be final upon receipt of all documents.

100 € (non-refundable in case of non-selection of the candidate) to be paid via international bank transfer to the account:

Participation in the competition is only validated upon receipt of the registration fee.

Acceptance

The applications and video recordings will be submitted to the Artistic Committee of the Competition. 

Only candidates selected based on their video submissions will be admitted to the public rounds. 

They will be notified by email no later than July 15, 2025. 

The score of the compulsory piece will be attached. 

Upon request, the CIAD will send an official invitation to selected candidates to facilitate the visa application process.

 

Additional Regulatory Provisions

The works proposed for each round may only appear once in the candidate’s program, except for the works presented on VIDEO during the pre-selection program. 

The candidate must indicate the duration of each piece in their program on the registration form. 

Covers are at the discretion of the candidate.
Works must be performed from memory, except for the compulsory piece. 

The Artistic Committee and the Jury reserve the right to request candidates to provide certain scores. 

All rounds are open to the public and may be partially or fully recorded and televised at the sole discretion of the competition organizer. For all radio and television broadcasts of performances at the Competition, both in Belgium and abroad, the candidate grants all rights for an indefinite period. 

By registering, candidates consent to the future use of recordings of their performance(s). 

The announcement of results and the awarding of Prizes will take place after the Final. 

The Jury reserves the right not to award certain Prizes. 

The decisions of the jury are final. In case of dispute, the French version of the rules will be considered authoritative.
