The Musical Chapel of Tournai and the CIAD…
Founded in 1978, this orchestra is one of the essential actors of the Belgian and Tournaisian musical life. Recognized and subsidized by the FWB (Fédération Wallonie – Bruxelles), it has been a historic partner of the André Dumortier International Competition since its creation in 2003 and will again accompany the 9th Final of this prestigious competition in 2025. Directed by Philippe Gérard since 1989, it has presented more than 30 diversified musical seasons in Tournai, welcoming as many talented young soloists, Belgian and foreign, as well as soloists and internationally renowned conductors.
Wanting to be open in his programmatic choices that take him from the baroque to the contemporary, he has attended the best Belgian festivals (Wallonia festival, Midis-Minimes, Été Mosan, Artonov, Unexpected encounters, International jazz festival in Liège, Musical July of Aulne, Musical strolls of Rixensart..) and performed in the most beautiful halls of the country (Bozar, Brussels Conservatory, Monnaie, MIM.) as well as in France and England.
He produced several CDs (Mozart, Britten, Brouwer, Absil, Katona..) which were very successful both in Belgium and abroad.
