Curriculum Vitae

Jean-Michel Dayez – Pianist

Biography

Trained in Lille, then at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth (Belgium) by Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Jean-Michel Dayez thrives today on stage solo or in chamber music.
Laureate of the international competition in Antwerp, from the Meyer and Emile Bernheim foundations, he has since been involved in numerous musical projects. He likes to share the stage with loyal friends and deepen a little more each day the immense repertoire offered by his instrument.
Jean-Michel Dayez has recorded Fauré’s complete music for cello and piano with Xavier Gagnepain (5 Diapasons, Editor’s choice of the Times), Beethoven’s complete sonatas for cello and piano with Nicolas Deletaille, a monographic disc of composer Vincent Paulet, a recital devoted to the music of Kris Oelbrandt, Beethoven’s first three trios with the Leos trio (5 Diapasons…). His recording “Chausson Le littéraire” was chosen “disc of the year” by France Musique. He has also just released a Mozart disc with Hans Ryckleynck, devoted to the two-piano repertoire.
Jean-Michel Dayez holds a Certificat d’Aptitude and now teaches enthusiastically in Lille (Conservatoire – École Supérieure de Musique et de Danse des Hauts-de-France), at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons (Belgium), and at the Académie Festival des Arcs for over ten years.
