Nicolas PAPPAS
Nikolas Pappas is a 24-year-old concert pianist from Greece, who actively gives performances throughout the European continent. He has been frequently invited to participate in special projects and concert series, with his latest participation as a guest musician in the World Expo 2025 Osaka, where his recording of Beethoven’s Hammerklavier Sonata will be heard. He has collaborated with many orchestras as a featuring soloist, with the most recent performance being Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.3 with the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra in spring of 2024. He has also given many solo recitals in important concert venues such as the Thessaloniki Megaron concert hall or the National Opera Stage of Greece in Athens. Nikolas has won many awards in piano competitions: first prize at the UNESCO Music Competition two years consecutively, in 2020 and 2021; second prize at the International Piano Competition of the Thessaloniki Piano Festival in 2023; second prize at the International Piano Competition in Vienna “Wiener Klassik” in 2024, just to name a few. Aside from his solo piano career, Nikolas has rich experiences in other important aspects of music, such as conducting, chamber music, composition and improvisation. He has been studying conducting since 2020 with Professor Herbert Böck, and has since conducted professional choirs and small ensembles and continues to enrich his conducting knowledge. He has participated in several festivals and performed chamber music amongst the top musicians of the world, such as Torleif Thedéen and Dimitri Toufexis. Nikolas has also studied concert improvisation with Professor Galina Vracheva for three years, and has performed in numerous improvisation concerts. Aside from the performing arts, Nikolas also has a deep understanding and a vast amount of knowledge in music theory and composition. He has obtained many diplomas with the top mark in Harmony and Counterpoint. Since 2018, Nikolas has been studying at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under Professor Rolf Plagge. He received his Bachelor Diploma in June 2022, graduating with the best mark. In the same year, he was accepted to continue his studies at the University with Professor Plagge, and he obtained his Master Degree in Piano Solo Training in June 2025. Due to his academic merits, Nikolas has been awarded numerous scholarships through the Mozarteum University. Aside from his education in Austria, Nikolas was also invited to study under Professor Eliso Virsaladze in the Fiesole School of Music in Italy, starting in 2024. Throughout his years of studies, Nikolas has also received guidance from many internationally acclaimed musicians, such as Robert Levin, Michel Béroff, Dmitri Alexeev, Yaara Tal, Andreas Groethuysen, Dimitri Toufexis, and Alexia Mouza.
