Born in 1994, this biennal is dedicated to André Dumortier since 1996. It became international in 2003. The aim of this biennal is to host young pianists from all around the world, looking for a musical ideal as André Dumortier's one. André Dumortier (1910-2004), a great belgian pianist, won in 1938 the Eugène Ysaye's Competition (actual "Concours Musical Reine Elisabeth from Belgium"). This gorgeous modern man, was constantly seeking coherency and verity.
The International André Dumortier Competition is open to pianists, without distinction of nationality, of 30 years of age at the most. The laureates of the previous sessions may no longer take part.
